Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Laing, age 82, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday October 17, 2010 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Merriweather and Rev. Buddy Boykin officiating. Interment will follow in Egypt Cemetery, Hamburg, AR. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010.
Mrs. Laing, a retired employee of Ditto Inc., passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and of the American Legion. Mrs. Laing practiced nursing at Garniers Clinic and loved to crochet. She loved her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren, they were her passion.
Survivors include her three sons, Marvin Laing, Jr. of Farmerville, LA, John Laing and wife Debbie of Hamburg, AR, Jerry Laing and wife Linda of Crossett, AR; one brother, Hershel Vaughn of Nevada, nine grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, a host of great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends Felton Polk of Farmerville, LA, and Amanda Harris of Bastrop, LA.
Mrs. Laing is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin R. Laing, Sr., two sisters, one brother, two grandchildren Kimberly A. Parker and Jeffery Laing.
Serving as pallbearers are Larry Burnett, Tommy Freeland, Billy McMullan, Benny Summitt, Johnny Ray Clark, Jr. Jeffers, Jerry Laing, Jr., and Armando Laing
