Obituary of Mack Kennedy

Funeral services for Mr. Mack Kennedy, age 80, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Greenacres Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Ballard and Rev. Dale Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Kennedy, a resident of Mer Rouge, LA, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010. He was a retired manager of Coulee Gin, a self-employed welder, and a Premier Hospice volunteer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Kennedy was a member of Greenacres Baptist Church since 1980 and had been an active deacon for 30 years. He was a member of the Brookville Masonic Lodge of Oak Ridge, LA, a member of the Mt. Gerizim Masonic Lodge of Bastrop, LA, and a member of the Sunny South Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Kennedy is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Buffington Kennedy; brother, William "Bill" Kennedy; father, Rembert Milton Kennedy; and mother, Gussie Reese Day. He is survived by four children, Rem Kennedy and wife Lucille of Bastrop, LA, Vance Kennedy and wife Susie of Bastrop, LA, Grace Sanders of Goodwill, LA, Alison Akers and husband Stefan of Brenham, TX; twelve grandchildren, Lindsay Paige Kennedy, Casey Amanda Muey, Jody Alan Sanders, Katlin Renee Sanderlin, Carter Kennedy Akers, Clark Martin Akers, Jordan Vance Kennedy, Sherri Anne Ingram, Charlene Murphy, Mae Frances Lynchard, Justin Dewayne Martin, James Michael Martin; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and his two caregivers, Ms. Daisy Hunt and Ms. Elizabeth Phillips. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Justin Martin, Michael Martin, Jody Sanders, Carter Akers, Clark Akers, and Jordan Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers are great grandsons and the deacons of Greenacres Baptist Church.
