Obituary of Little Mary Byargeon

Funeral services for Little Mary Byargeon, age 86, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday April 27, 2007 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 - 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Miss Byargeon, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday April 25, 2007. She was a member of White Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Nathan Bolton hired her just out of high school to work in the circulation department at the Bastrop Daily Enterprise. She moved to the advertising department where she advanced to manager. As manager, her department won many awards and honors from the Louisiana Press Association. She retired after more than fifty years with the Enterprise and worked with many talented people in the newspaper world who excelled in their field; namely the late Sam Hannah and the now retired Bill Chapman. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Carlton Byargeon and Mary Lee Little Byargeon; grandparents, Seymore Little and Lula Clark Little; two sisters, Myrtle Maude Brumfield and her husband Jewel W. Brumfield, Margie Mae Warren and her husband James Elmer Warren; two brothers, William Preston "Pat" Byargeon and his wife Nola Spillers Byargeon, Marshall Lee Byargeon and his wife Clydie Williamson Byargeon. She is survived by nieces, Wanda Brumfield Anthony Ragsdale and her husband Bob Ragsdale of El Dorado, AR, Patsy Ruth Byargeon McIntyre and her husband L.M. "Mack" McIntyre of Bastrop; nephews, Bennie Wayne Byargeon and his wife Glenda of Vidalia, LA, W. Edward Warren and his wife Marilyn of Mansfield, LA, Billy Gene Byargeon and his wife Donna of Washington state; other extended family members; special friends, Linda Williams and her husband W.J. "Bubba" Williams, Sara Ellen Williams, Hannah Nicole Foster, the late Scooter Williams, and Alice Sanders. Serving as pallbearers will be Bennie Wayne Byargeon, L.M. McIntyre, W.J. "Bubba" Williams, David Cooke, George Williams, Preston Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Chapman.
