Funeral services for Mr. James Newton Griffin, age 69, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2010 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Dale Jordan and C.S. Cascio officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Griffin passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at his residence. He worked most of his life helping in the family Sawmill. He attended Praise Land Worship Center, enjoyed country and gospel music, working crossword puzzels and watching western movies.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Jackie L. Griffin; mother, Joyce Lee Griffin of Victoria, MS; sister, Dorothy Marie Griffin Benson of Shreveport, LA; two brothers, Raymie Benton Griffin of Vicksburg, MS, Robert D. Griffin of Victoria, MS; five nieces, Terry Lynn Votaw, Elizabeth Toney, Stephanie Spillman, Toni Wilson, Katina Griffin; nephew, Vince Vinson; 7 great nieces, 7 great nephews; 1 great great niece and 1 great great nephew.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Dewey May Griffin, James Newton and Maggie Lee Hodge and his father, James C. Griffin.
