View Video Tribute Funeral services for Mr. Carroll Vallette "C.V." Christmas, 77, of Bastrop, La. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Britt Dupree and Bro. Charles Sisk officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Christmas, a member of Central Baptist Church, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2006 at his residence. Born in Portland, Arkansas June 8, 1929, C.V. moved to Bastrop in 1952 and was employed by Terzia Lumber Co. In 1962 he founded Bastrop Roofing and Construction Co. and Christmas Realty. Upon his death he was co-owner of Christmas Realty, Christmas Enterprises, and Bastrop Mini-Warehouses. Christmas served in the U.S. Army, was a member of Mt. Gerizim Masonic Lodge #54, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a long time member of the Bastrop Morehouse Chamber of Commerce where he received the first annual "Mr. Morehouse Award". He was one of the original founders of "Magic" Corp., a private economic development group which was successful in obtaining the Morehouse Garment Corp. Mr. Christmas was also a long time member and past president of the Bastrop Kiwanis Club and the Northeast La. Home Builders Assoc. where he was a licensed general and residential contractor as well as a licensed La. real estate broker. He is survived by three daughters, Debbie Pettis and husband Ronald of Bastrop, LA, Mary Bryan and husband Troy of Bastrop, LA, Faye Frost and husband Jack of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Tiffney Rome and husband Scott of Bastrop, LA, Jessica Newton and husband Todd of West Monroe, LA, Crystal Frost of Houston, TX, Matt Spikes and wife Beth of Bastrop, LA; four great granddaughters, Bailey Rome, Abbi Spikes, Riley Newton , Emma Grace Newton; brother, Jimmy Christmas and wife Peggy of Bastrop, LA; Aunt, Irene Stell of Hamburg, AR and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Christmas is preceded in death by his wife, Syble Wilson Christmas; parents, Carroll and Hazel Christmas and a sister, Carolyn McCollum. Serving as pallbearers are: Calvin Lusby, Robert Hawkins, Earl "Sonny" Moon, Charles Sisk, Phillip Lester and Howard Halterman. Honorary Pallbearers are: Felix Brown, Homer McDougle, Huey Singley, George Clark, Dr. Joe Reynolds, Raymond Roberts, all past and present employees of Bastrop Roofing and Construction including Floyd Carney, Bud Veazey and Keith Travis and all past and present employees of Christmas Realty. The family wishes to express a special thank you to C.V.'s caregivers: Peggy Skains, Katena Henderson, Susan White and employees of Premier Hospice. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2006 at Golden Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lukemia Foundation and the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
