Obituary of Hattie Elizabeth Burns

Funeral services for Hattie Elizabeth Burns, age 95, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday January 20, 2007, at the chapel of Young's Community Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Marion Spence, Rev. Marty Black, and Rev. Jimmy Herring officiating. Interment will follow in Coax Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday at Golden Funeral Home, Bastrop, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Friday evening at Young's Community Funeral Home, Winnsboro, from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Burns, a retired Franklin Parish School cafeteria worker and homemaker, passed away Thursday January 18, 2007 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was a resident of Baskin for most of her life, and had resided in Bastrop for the last six years where she was a resident of Summerlin Lane Nursing Home. She was a member of the Baskin Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Burns; daughter, Janice Jeanette Burns;and son, Sherman D. Burns. Mrs. Burns is survived by her daughter, Clara Adams of Bastrop; her son, Charles D. Burns & wife Jennie of Bastrop; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles McDonald, Carl Ritchie, Kendall Case, Frank Reese, George Robinson, and June Long. Honorary pallbearers will be her Grandsons and also Ray Ratcliff, Floyd Robinson, Dennis Poland and Elva Greer. Memorial contributions may made to the Baskin Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
