Obituary of Montene Neel Copeland

Funeral services for Mrs. Montene Neel Copeland, age 91, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday January 31, 2007, at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Porter officiating. Interment will be in Bonita Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Goldens. Mrs. Copeland, a resident of Mer Rouge, passed away Monday January 29, 2007 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was a homemaker and one of the first telephone operators in Bonita, LA. She was a member of the Bonita United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Copeland; twin sister, Maxine Neel French; and two brothers, George Nixie Neel and Wilson S. "Bill" Neel. She is survived by two sons, Claude Junior Copeland & wife Mary of Abbeville, LA, Leon Copeland & wife Peggy of Galliano, LA; four grandchildren, Shawn Copeland & wife Tonia of Abbeville, LA, Daniel Chapman & wife Nickie of Abbeville, LA, Dana Hudson & husband Tim of Horn Lake, MS, Leslie Copeland of Houston, TX; eight great grandchildren; and two nieces, Alice Peale French McKoin and Jan Parks. Serving as pallbearers will be Claude Junior Copeland, Leon Copeland, Shawn Copeland, Daniel Chapman, Larry McKoin, and Venoy Kinnaird. Jerry Stutts will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
