Obituary of Peggy and Dale Williams

Peggy and Dale Williams, formerly of Bastrop, died within three days of each other. Peggy passed away Monday, February 12, 2007, and Dale followed her on February 15th. The services for Peggy were held February 14, 2007 in the W.W. Rix Chapel of Rix Funeral Directors, Lubbock, Texas. Services for Dale will be held at the same location on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 4 p.m. He will be buried next to his wife in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. His family will once again receive friends at the funeral home the evening prior to the service, Sunday, February 18th, from 6-8 p.m.
Dale was born April 25, 1932 to Marvin and Zelma (Laningham) Williams in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Peggy was born September 11, 1933 to John Wesley and Ida Oveta (Culley) Weber. While Dale attended schools in Witchita Falls, Peggy attended schools in Holiday. He served in the U.S. Army. On November 11, 1950, they married in Witchita Falls. For forty five years the Williams had owned and operated flowers shops and had been active in the wholesale gift and flower bussiness selling to retail florist. From 1957- 1979, they resided in Bastrop, La. Dale was a florist at Blackwell Golden Funeral Home and Gift Shop before becoming co-owner of Dale's Flower Tree from 1971-1979. The family of Peggy and Dale Williams want thier friends from Bastrop to know that Peggy and Dale are survived by two daughters, Cindy McKinney and husband Eric Cook, Carolyn Haley and husband Denny, and one son, John Williams all of Lubbock; one granddaughter, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is Peggy's sister, Laverne Dewvall of Witchita Falls. Peggy's parents, a sister and a brother preceded her in death and Dale's parents and a sister preceded him.
