Obituary of Haskel E. "Shorty" Spigner

Funeral services for Mr. Haskel E. "Shorty" Spigner are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Cal Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Family will recieve friends Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Spigner, age 91 and resident of Mer Rouge, formerly of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011. He was a retired International Paper Company employee, a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church where he loved his Sunday School class. He also served in the United States Army, active duty, in the Phillipines during World War II. Mr. Haskel Spigner is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Neva M. Perdue Spigner, son, Troy E spigner, parents, Lon and Nancy Spigner, sisters, Marie Amos, Mildred Deaton, and Bobbie Jean Campbell. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Faye Spigner Leachman and husband Larry of Mer Rouge; brother, W.O. "Jack" Spigner and wife Ann of Bastrop; grandchildren, David Duane Spigner and wife Tammy of Mer Rouge, Damon Brice Spigner of Mer Rouge, DeAnn McCarthy and fiance' Kade Hay of Castor, LA; great grandchildren, Nicklous Spigner, Robin Spigner Dickey, Lauren McCarthy, Taylor McCarthy, Dylan McCarthy, Dakota and Justin Uherek; great great grandchildren, Tyler, Brayden, and Lexie Spigner, Abby and T.J. Dickey; special friends, Joe Crenshaw and wife Kay of Bastrop, and Walter Watts. Pallbearers will be; David Spigner, Damon Spigner, Nick Spigner, Donald Wayne Spigner, Frank Mushinski and Joe Crenshaw. Dylan McCarthy will serve as honorary pallbearer. Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Ridge Baptist Church at 1005 Cherry Ridge Rd., Bastrop, LA 71220.
