Funeral services for Edna Williamson Bounds, age 93, of Bastrop, LA. will be Monday, October 11, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Golden Funeral Chapel Bastrop, LA with Rev. James Moss officiating. Mrs. Bounds passed away Saturday, October 9, 2004. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Stewart under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Born November 8, 1910 in Purvis, MS. to John and Appie Adcock Williamson, Edna moved to Bastrop with her family when she was 18. She married Ivan Bounds on August 30, 1930. Along with her husband, she was a charter member of both First Church of God and later Cherry Ridge Church of God. She was very active in the Ambassadors Senior Fellowship and Women's Missionary Society and served as an adult Sunday school teacher and hostess to many visiting ministers to these churches.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Ivan, her parents, her oldest son, Charles Bounds, daughter in-law Laverne Cockrell Bounds, three brothers Bill, Talmadge and Arlie Williamson and one sister Clydie Byargeon.
Her family will remember her as a loving, dedicated, Christian mother and grandmother. She is survived by one son Glen Bounds and wife Kaye of Duncanville, TX; three daughters, Joyce Archer of Bastrop, LA, Linda Bloom and husband John of Bullard, TX, Rita Belding and husband Bill of Ruston, LA and daughter in-law Melba Hutson Bounds of Nashville, AR. She was affectionately known as Mammaw to eleven grandchildren and their spouses: Steve Bounds and wife Laura of Mansfield, LA; Karen Bounds Adolphus and husband Fred of McDonough, GA; Delwin Archer and wife Jean of Duncanville, TX; Vonda Archer Carney and husband Richard of Woodland, GA; Brent Bounds and wife Jenni of New York City; Candis Bounds Grover and husband Dennis of MesQuite, TX; Sherri Bloom Morrison and husband Bill of Keller, TX; Terry Bloom and wife Olivia of Mountain View, CA; Mark Bloom and wife Melissa of Ft. Worth, TX; DeAnn Belding Dean and husband Tommy of Frisco, TX; and Damon Belding and wife Leslie of Frisco, TX. She is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren, one sister Clara Freeman of Bastrop, LA and her loving and dedicated caregiver Mable Pegross of Bastrop, LA.
The family would like to thank Dr. Madura Rangaraj, Dr. Scott Barron, Dr. John Sheehan, Dr. Carter Cox and the staff of the Arbor of Bastrop, and Morehouse Home Health for their many years of compassionate, loving and professional care.
Pallbearers will be her six grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons-in law.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
