Graveside funeral services for Mr. Bryan Rodgers White, Sr., age 85, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at Pine Grove South Cemetery with Mr. Waymon Swain officiating under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. White passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at St. Francis Specialty Hospital in Monroe, LA after a lengthy illness.
Mr. White was born November 9, 1925 in Bastrop, LA to Estelle Hightower and Julius Riley White. He was a lifelong resident of Morehouse Parish. He proudly served his country during World War II, enlisting at the age of 17. Mr. White can be truly characterized as a member of "The Greatest Generation". He retired as a timber contractor but Mr. White still stayed active with his hobbies of fishing and raising cattle.
He is preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Julius White, Jr., Gilbert White, Albert White, Vernon White, Louie White, Ollie White; two sisters, Louise Shoup, Virginia Whitaker; and grandson, Houston Riley White.
Mr. White is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lesba Warren White; sons, Bryan White, Jr. and wife Donna, James R. White and wife Donna; grandchildren, Jenna White, Ross White, Jennifer Polk, Zachary White; and great granddaughter, Marykate Polk.
Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Watson, J.V. Byrd, and James "Jimmy" Perry.
