Obituary of Owen Leslie Dement

Funeral services for Mr. Owen Leslie Dement, age 82, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at North Bastrop Church of God with Rev. David Sistrunk and Rev. Marvin Tabora officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Dement, a resident of Bastrop and a retired employee of International Paper Company, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 at Morehouse General Hospital. Mr. Dement was a member of North Bastrop Church of God. He was a loving husband and father. Mr. Dement was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Dement was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Stacey Dement; granddaughter, Jennifer Dement Stephenson; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Annie Sue Dement; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dement. Mr. Dement is survived by his wife, Blanche Ellen Dement; one daughter, Becky Ramphrey and husband Malcolm of Bastrop, LA; two sons, Carl Dement and wife Linda of Bastrop, LA, Royce Dement and wife Rhonda of Union Parish, LA; one brother, Kenneth Dement of Bastrop, LA; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. Pallbearers will be; Alan Dement, Jason Dement, T.J. Dement, Bruce Jenkins, Doug Riels and Tommy Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Ramphrey, Roy Anderson and Chris Ramphrey. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home.
