Obituary of Betty Sistrunk

Funeral services for Betty Ellison Sistrunk , age 77, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday , November 13, 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Carlos Trapp and Rev. David Doiron officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Sistrunk, a retired school teacher for the Morehouse Parish School System and member of Bethel Baptist Chruch , died Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was also very active in local and state politics and a member of the VFW Womens Auxillary. Mrs. Sistrunk is survived by her daughter, Michelle Sheley and husband Brian of Bastrop, LA ; four sons, Mark Sistrunk and wife Tammy of Bastrop, LA , Mike Sistrunk , Sr. of Bastrop , LA , Edward Sistrunk , Jr. of Bastrop, LA , Mike Sistrunk , Jr. of Bastrop, LA ; three sisters, Janie Bradley of Williamston, SC , Sara Childress of Williamston, SC , Margaret Ross of Ninety Six , SC ; five grandchildren, Adam Sistrunk , Joseph Sistrunk , Thomas Sistrunk , Edward Sistrunk III , Kim McLeod ; three great grandchildren, Casey Sistrunk , Shawn McLeod , Joshua McLeod and a host of loving nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband , Edward Sistrunk ; son , Dennis Sistrunk and a sister , Peggy Ellison . Pallbearers will be: Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, November 12 , 2004 at Golden Funeral Home. The family requested in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church , 14489 Crossett Rd., Bastrop, LA 71220.
