Obituary of Elizabeth May-Murphy

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson May Murphy, 77, of Bastrop, will be held at 2 PM Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Revs. Cal Adams and Bill Moore officiating under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Mrs. Murphy, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011. She was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church and a retired Morehouse Parish School employee. Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, Claude I. Murphy, Jr.; mother, Delphia Hoff of Bastrop, LA; three daughters, Vanessa Elizabeth Popic and husband Dale of Boca Raton, FL, Victoria Kosh and husband Gary of Searcy, AR, Flora C. Preston of Winnfield, LA; two sons, Robert Wendell May and wife Loretta of Bastrop, LA, Jerry Wayne May and wife Betty Sue of Bastrop, LA; seven grandchildren,Amber Johnson, Kaleb May, Kelly May, Wade May, Christy Osborne, James May, Jonathan Austin Preston; nine great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Heather, Trevor, Seth, Samantha, Lacy, Mary Beth, Roland and Keighlee. She is preceded in death by husband, Robert Louis May; father, Topsy Johnson. Serving as pallbearers are: Tony Tullos, Todd Wilson, Jim Wilson, Jerry Goodman, Jack McCormack and Dennis Akers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 5 PM until 9 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
