Obituary of Bessie Marie Jones

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Marie Jones, age 82, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Victory Baptist Church, Monroe, LA, with Rev. John Mark Little officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones, a resident of Monroe, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, in Monroe, LA. Mrs. Jones had worked at Bellsouth Telephone until they went dial, was manager of Cook Beauty Supply, and a retired Beautician. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John "Pete" Jones; one sister, Viola Keene; and three brothers, Huey Scroggins, Julius Scroggins and George Scroggins. Mrs. Jones is survived by one daughter Pat Dew and husband Larry of Monroe, LA; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson and husband Johnny of Bastrop, LA, Sue Parker and husband Vaughn of West Monroe, LA, Rose Domangue of Holden, LA; two brothers, Bobby Scroggins and wife Linda of Weatherford, TX, Jimmy Randolph of Morgan City, LA; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Scroggins of Andrews, TX; three grandchildren, Robin Wiggins and husband James of Rayville, LA, Ginger Hackler and husband Donnie of Katy, TX, Pam Gentry of Monroe, LA; four great grandchildren, Josh Banks and wife Ashley of Covington, LA, Mallory Williams and husband Jared of Rayville, LA, Savannah Hackler of Baton Rouge, LA, Jamie Wiggins and wife Tammie of Rayville, LA; four great great grandchildren, Hayden Banks, Tori Wiggins, Josie Wiggins, and Jordanne Wiggins. Mrs. Jones was a member of the American Legion and the local VFW. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. On her 80th birthday she was fondly given the title of "Princess". Mrs. Jones will be greatly loved and missed by her family and friends at Chauvin Pointe which she played games with daily. Pallbearers will be Billy Jones, Mike Goyne, Mike Garvin, Keith Parker, Michael Johnson and Dale Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers will be Card Playing Buddies and special neighbors of Chauvin Pointe. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church at 740 Finks Hideaway Rd, Monroe, LA 71203. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home and Thursday 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. service time at Victory Baptist Church.
