Funeral services for Mr. Walter D. Avant, 73, of Mer Rouge, LA will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Don Slack and Donald Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Mc Knight Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Avant, a retired master millwright and member of Horseshoe Baptist Church, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Wanetta Avant; two sons, John R. Avant and wife Mary J. of Houma, LA, Melvin "Tony" Boden of Bastrop, LA; sister, Juanita Carter of Texarkana, AR; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mr. Avant is preceded in death by a son, Dusty King; brothers, Charles Avant, Eddie Avant and parents, John Henry and Viola Mae Avant.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Golden Funeral Home.
