Obituary of Marjorie Aline Hinkie

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Hinkie, 71, of Bastrop, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Carter and Dr. Vic Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Margie passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a founding member of Maranatha Baptist Church. She worked at Bell South and in the time office at International Paper Company. Margie leaves behind many friends in Bastrop, Sylva, NC; Godfrey, IL; Farmerville, LA; and Webster, MA. Margie is a former member of First Baptist Church of Sylva, NC where she was active in many of the youth and charity projects. She is preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Lane Simmons, and her father, Lloyd W. Richards, Sr. Mrs. Hinkie is survived by her husband, Joseph Burke Hinkie; mother, Maybelle Richards of Bastrop; two sons, Dana Lee Simmons and wife Rhonda of West Monroe, Joseph Lloyd Hinkie and wife Guinn of West Monroe; sister, Gwen Dickson of Houma, LA; brother, Lloyd W. "Buddy" Richards, Jr. and wife Shirley of Bastrop; grandchildren, Alex, Victoria, and Matthew Simmons of Wilmot, AR, Jamie Simmons of Jacksonville, FL; along with several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Wanda Ellard Austin of Texarkana. Serving as pallbearers are Max Andrews, Raymond Holley, Lynn McIntyre, Jack Cockrell, Billy Sisson, and Doug Goyne. Honorary pallbearers are Kent Caskey, Willis Wilkerson, Arthur Hayden, and Devon Hayes. Margie will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend in the hearts of her loved ones.
