A memorial service for Mr. J.C. Hughes is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 at Meridian Baptist Church, Crossett, AR. Mr. Hughes, age 86 and a resident of Bastrop, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Thelma Lee Hughes; three sons, Michael Hughes, Dennis Hughes and wife Candy, Eric Hughes and wife Kathy; nine grandchildren, Shane Hughes, Ashley Harrington, Stanton Hughes, Jennifer Campbell, Clay Hughes, Erica Gross, Cole Hughes, Ashton Hughes, Spencer Hughes; seven great grandchildren, Ty Simmons, Katie Harrington, Will Harrington, Adrian Campbell, Landon Hughes, Justice Hughes, Finleigh Kate Gross; and one more great grandbaby Hughes expected.
Mr. Hughes was a retired carpenter. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked hard all of his life and provided well for his family. He enjoyed watching sports and John Wayne movies. Mr. Hughes loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. He was a good man and he will be greatly missed.
