The world became a different place when Jewel Warren was born. Carter always said that her mother named her right because she was a real "jewel". He was right. For fifty years, he and Jewel shared a life full of love, laughs, travels, and family.
Jewel was at her best when she was together with her brothers and sisters. Fourth of July picnics were a special treat to the whole family. The men threw horseshoes and had the grills smoking while the women filled the tables with more food than we could ever eat. When she smiled, she was the most beautiful woman there.
The fishing camps at Lake Enterprise and Toledo Bend were very special places for Jewel. Great friends, great family times, and great food was always available. We all share great memories of fishing, swimming, killing snakes and mosquitos, and frying fish and the best hushpuppies in the world.
Traveling across country in the motor home, looking for KOA campgrounds because they were the only ones that we could stop at, driving on skinny roads in Colorado when you thought we would go tumbling off the side of the mountain, and stopping at every attraction between home and there just because "it's something that you may never see again" so we had to take it all in. And she had to pick up a rock from everywhere we went to add to her collection.
The love of our many family and friends and faith in the Lord are what will get us through this difficult time. There are so many great memories we have with Jewel, Momma, or Nanny..whatever she was to you, it is certain that she was very special to us all.
