Funeral services for Sybil C. Risher , age 90, of Mer Rouge, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the Golden's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Vollmar officiating. Interment will be at the Bonne Idee Cemetery on Merton Bowe Road, Mer Rouge, LA.
Visitation will be between 5 - 7 p.m. , Monday, January 3, 2005 , at Golden's Funeral Home. Sybil passed away January 1, 2005 , surrounded by family members, at the Oak Woods Home where she has resided for several years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Risher was born March 25, 1914 in Morehouse Parish , to Eurie and Richie Bowe Coleman. She graduated from Mer Rouge High School in 1931, where she was a member of the school basketball team. She attended Louisiana Poly Technic Institute (1933-1935) in Ruston, LA and later worked at J.C. Penney and West Bros. here in Bastrop.
She is survived by one daughter , Barbara Fuller of Bastrop ; two sons , John Risher and wife Emily of Bastrop , James Risher and wife Ellen of Hampton , VA ; one sister , Evelyn Laing of Monroe, LA ; six grandchildren , Cindy Fuller Schaefer and husband Greg of Sidney, MT , Michelle Fuller Harris and husband Kyle of Baton Rouge, LA , Brian Risher and wife Lori of Newport News, VA , Jim Risher and wife Belinda of Newport News, VA , Brandon Risher and wife Kim of Little Rock , AR, Michael Risher and wife Jenny of Little Rock, AR and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Harris, Jay Moore, and grandsons Brandon, Brian, Jim and Michael Risher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richie Bowe Coleman and Eurie Coleman and a sister, Frankie C. King.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local Humane Society, The Gideon's International, The National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana or your local charity of choice in lieu of flowers.
