Obituary of Mae Barnes

Funeral services for Mae Elizabeth Barnes, age 80, of Mer Rouge are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the Golden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Goldens from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Miss Barnes died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Morehouse General Hospital. Miss Barnes was a retired LPN. She began her nursing career with Dr. Joe Williams in Mer Rouge and later worked for Cherry Ridge Guest Care and Morehouse General Hospital. After retiring, she worked part-time at Oak Woods and took care of her mother. She was a member of Mer Rouge Methodist Church until she became a resident of Cherry Ridge Guest Care. She then moved her membership to First United Methodist Church in Bastrop. Miss Barnes is survived by her brother, Davy Daniels and his wife Rita of Mer Rouge; and nephew, Colby Daniels and his wife Misty of Mer Rouge. She is preceded in death by her mother, Betsy Daniels; father, Daniel Barnes; and step-father, Roy Daniels. Pallbearers will be Joe Dye, Steve Dade, Ed Justice, Dick Blackwell, Harry Hawthorne and Billy Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Lyon, Dr. E.D. Baker and Frank Reitzell. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Morehouse General Hospital and Cherry Ridge Guest Care for taking such fine care of Miss Barnes.
