Obituary of Vernita Odom Grantham

Funeral services for Mrs. Vernita Odom Grantham, age 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Holly Ridge, LA under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Grantham, a resident of Bastrop and a homemaker, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Morehouse General Hospital. Mrs. Grantham was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Grantham is preceded in death by her husband, Delton Grantham; parents; son, Donnie Grantham; four sisters; and three brothers.
Mrs. Grantham is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Grantham Hough and husband Truman of Bastrop, LA; two sons, Delton "Bo" Grantham and wife Tommye Gayle of Shreveport, LA, Doyle Edward Grantham and wife Betty of Lawrenceville, GA; one sister, Faye Watts of Albany, LA; one brother, Thomas Odom of Farmerville, LA; seven grandchildren, Judith Clark, Phillip Grantham, Jeffery Grantham, Darrin Grantham, Terri Ray, Sheila Bray, Lori Bullington; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Grantham, Jeffery Grantham, Darrin Grantham, Todd Clark, Brian Andrews, and Joshua Grantham.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Smith and the staff at Lagniappe Health Care for the compassion they showed to our mother.
