Obituary of Clara Mae Hughes McKoin

Clara Mae Hughes McKoin, age 75, of Lake Charles, La, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011. She was born to Denver Carlton and Lanie Shelton Hughes on July 23, 1936 in Cypress Ridge, AR. Clara moved to Bonita, LA where she met her late husband, Robert F. McKoin, Sr. Together they made their home in Jones, LA, where they owned a farm and McKoin Irrigation. After her husband's death, Clara continued to run the irrigation business. After selling the business and farm she moved to Lake Charles, LA. Clara enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, playing cards, and working in her yard and garden. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 34 years, Robert F. McKoin, Sr.; and her sister, Mabel Polk. Clara is survived by two sons, Tracy E. McKoin and wife Melinda of Pine Bluff, AR, Robert F. McKoin, Jr. (Buster) and wife Kellie of Grand Chenier, LA; two daughters, Lonie Doles McKoin and partner Marie Swain of Lake Charles, LA, Elizabeth McKoin; five grandsons, Heath McKoin and wife Meridith of Conway, AR, Kris McKoin and wife Michelle of Moss Bluff, LA, Keith McKoin of Iowa, LA, William Patrick McKoin and Nathaniel Logan McKoin, both of Lake Charles, LA; one granddaughter, Katie McKoin Armentor and husband Dustin of Holmwood, LA; five great grandchildren, Madison McKoin, Cooper McKoin, Madden McKoin, Kace Armentor, Kenadie Armentor; three sisters, Mary Lee Ellis of Texas, Virginia Miller of Florida, Lorine Pamalee of Arkansas; and two brothers, Olin Hughes of Monroe, LA, Leon Hughes of Beekman, LA. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
