Obituary of James P. "Buddy" Fife

Funeral services for Mr. James P. "Buddy" Fife are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Britt Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Fife was born in New London (Strong), AR on September 2, 1924 and passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011. He went to work for International Paper Company in Bastrop, LA, in 1949 after relocating from El Dorado, AR. He retired in 1986 after 37 years of service in the Pulp Mill Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of 5 Point Deer Club in Arkansas. He was also an expert gardener for his family, friends, and neighbors. Mr. Fife was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church for 55 years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ruth Gean Fife; son, James Michael Fife; grandson, Michael Allen Fife; and parents, John Lee Fife and Lou Ellen Agerton Fife. Mr. Fife is survived by his wife, Pauline Lee Fife of Bastrop, LA; daughter, Ruth Ellen Edwards and husband Richard of Crossett, AR; grandson, Richard Todd Edwards and wife BeBe of Beekman, LA; great granddaughter, Taylar Maddison Edwards of Crossett, AR; step-children, Paulette Griffith and husband James of Bastrop, LA, Danny Lee and wife Brenda of Bastrop, LA, Alvin Lee and wife Gail of Mississippi, Beverly Lee of Utah, Donald Lee of Shreveport, LA; a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; four sisters, Mavis Love of Mountain Home, AR, Ethyle Jones and husband Bill of Crossett, AR, June Noble and husband Zemery of Crossett, AR, Bobbie Kay Childres and husband Jewel Wayne of Crossett, AR; one brother, George Gary "Shorty" Fife and wife Lynn of Crossett, AR; twenty nieces and nephews; and a host of great nieces and great nephews. Pallbearers will be Steve Childers, Gary Dean Fife, Rusty Gean, Phil Herring, David Gean, and O'Neal Wooten. Honorary pallbearers will be surviving members of 5 Points Deer Club, members of his Sunday School Class from Central Missionary Baptist Church, Shine Duncan, Ken Robinson, and James Griffith. Dad will be missed by his family here but will be greeted by those gone on before him.
