Granny, along with her husband, Howard, owned Yates Conoco and Yates and Tubbs Phillips 66 Wrecker and Ambulance Service for over 30 years and continued to serve as bookkeeper for many more years. She was an active member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church for many years, until illness made it difficult to attend. She passes on a love for missions to her children. She loved gardening and working in her yard. She shared her plants, seeds and flowers with others, earning the "Green Thumb Award" on several occasions.
Granny was also known for her love of ceramics. She shared many good times with her children and grand-children making ceramics and, for a number of years, shared her love with residents of area nursing homes. As a wonderful cook, Granny always made food for those in need for and her children and grandchildren, who have great memories of Christmases filled with the delicious smells of Granny's cooking.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Yates.
