Mr. Crumley, was a resident of Bastrop and a self-employed pulpwood contractor for 40 years in Morehouse and the surrounding parishes. He cut timber from the Arkansas state line to Swartz, LA. Everyone knew he was bringing a load of wood into the mill because of his whistling. He was still running the chain saw while he was in his 70's. He was the happiest when he was working and filing chain saws. He was also a World War II Army Veteran. He was tenderhearted, had a good work ethic and a strong love for his family. He enjoyed whistling, and fiddle music; breakdown and bluegrass being his favorites. In the late 1940's he would play old hymns with his wife in church. He would play the violin, and she would play the guitar. He also loved to hear his family sing. One of his favorite songs was "Homecoming". He had a nickname for everyone he came in contact with (usually Charlie, or George). He was truly one of a kind, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is now truly SHELTERED IN THE ARMS OF GOD.
Mr. Crumley is survived by three daughters, Judy Spikes and husband Fales of Elk City, OK, Jackie Blackmon and husband Terry of Covington, LA, Cathy Pruitt and husband Leon of Gulfport, MS; two sons, Dempsey Crumley and wife Margie of Prescott, AR, Danny Crumley and wife Pat of Bastrop, LA; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
