Obituary of Jr. Bennett

Funeral services for Mr. John J. Bennett, Jr. are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Cal Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Bennett, age 73 and resident of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011. He began his working career with International Paper Company and in 1974 established Bennett Electric Company, which he owned and operated for 34 years. He was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gladys Bennett. Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife of 54 years, Avanell Bennett of Bastrop; daughter, Donna Bennett Santana and Daniel Woods of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Randy Bennett and wife Karen of Bastrop, Keith Bennett and Ann Britton of Bastrop; six grandchildren, Timothy John Santana, Katherine Santana, Corey Bennett, Jessica Hildago, Simone Trahan, John Randall Bennett; and three great grandchildren, Michael Santana, Hannah Santana, and Marley Grace Bennett. Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Bennett will be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, and one that loved his church family. Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of John Bennett at 1005 Cherry Ridge Rd., Bastrop, LA 71220.
