Obituary of Rembert "Rem" Mack Kennedy

Funeral services for Rembert "Rem" Mack Kennedy, age 52, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Kennedy, a service writer for Jim Taylor Chevrolet of Rayville and former police captain with the Mer Rouge police department passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lucille Kennedy; three daughters, Sherri Anne Ingram and husband Robert of Bastrop, LA, Charlene Murphy and Marquita Mihaliak of Havelock, NC, Mae Frances Lynchard and husband John of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Grace K. Sanders and Renee Helmer of Goodwill, LA, Alison K. Akers and husband Stefan of Brenham, TX; brother, Vance Kennedy and wife Susie of Bastrop, LA; six grandchildren, Susan Harkness and husband Cody, Taylor Ingram, Casey Small, Codey Small, Meagan Lynchard, Sarah Ingram ;great granddaughter, Amy Grace Harkness and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Kennedy is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Alice Kennedy and a grandson John Alvis Lynchard, Jr. Mr. Kennedy was a graduate of the Northeast University police academy, member of the Mt. Gerizim Lodge Number 54 of Bastrop and the Brookville Lodge Number 161 of Oak Ridge. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of the Pipeline Hunting Club. He loved his grandchildren and was affectionately known as "Pa". Serving as pallbearers are: Joe Crenshaw, Kenneth Langston, Carl Walthall, David Walthall, Bobby Barton and Drexall Boggs. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Jim Taylor Chevrolet of Rayville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Life Share Blood Center, the Morehouse Cancer Fund or the Louisiana Lions Eye Bank.
