Obituary of Verona Mercer

Verona "Vicki" Slayter Mercer, age 65, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at home in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born September 24, 1941, in Dry Prong, Louisiana, daughter of Winfred and Neva Beebe Slayter. Verona is a 1959 graduate of Bastrop High School and married Kenneth Mercer of Bastrop, September 3, 1960. Vicki, a realtor, is survived by her husband; two daughters, Alison Mercer Hall and husband Scott of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Carol Mercer of Denton, Texas; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Grace Hall; her mother, Neva Slayter Webb; two sisters, Flora Spann and husband Harry, Phyllis Edwards and husband James. Visitation, a "Remembrance Gathering," will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007, beginning at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Bastrop, with a memorial service to be held at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Christ Church Cemetery, Bastrop. In lieu of flowers, share with the Mercer family your special memory, joyful, funny, and meaningful experiences, or how Verona has influenced you or your family. These will be added to a "Memories Album" of letters, cards, pictures, emails, tributes and condolences.
