Obituary of Darrel R. Doke

Funeral services for Mr. Darrel R. Doke, 72, of Mer Rouge, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Horseshoe Baptist Church with Revs. Don Slack, Francis Smith and Newton Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonita Road Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Doke, a retired carpenter and woodcrafter passed away July 4, 2007 at Morehouse General Hospital. He attended Horseshoe Baptist church and was an avid flint knapper. He is survived by his wife, Raydine Marter Doke; two daughters, Judy Tate and husband Dalton of Livingston, TX, Telitha Doke of Start, LA; son, Gaston Doke of CA; four sisters, Earlene Gunter of Mer Rouge, LA, Gracie Doke, Dorothy Atkinson and Betty Lebrun all of Bastrop, LA; brother, Richard Doke of Bastrop, LA; three grandchildren, Tamara Morris and husband JR, Jason Brown and wife Beverly, Joni Brown; three great grandchildren, Bethany Morris, Mason Morris, Wyatt Brown; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Doke is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at Horseshoe Baptist Church.
