Funeral services for Mr. William Leon Pruitt, age 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2011, in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Harvey and Cathy Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Pruitt, a resident of Bastrop and a retired employee of Berry Packing, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe. Mr. Pruitt is preceded in death by his wife, Shirlean Marie Pruitt; son, Bobby Gene Pruitt; parents, William Earl and Nancy Elizabeth Pruitt; brother, James Edward Pruitt; sisters, Oma May Swopes, and Vaunda Jean McKoin.
Mr. Pruitt is survived by two children, Leon Dewayne Pruitt and wife Cathy, Shirley Pruitt and fiancee Jack Middleton; two sisters, Naomi Eunice Dailey, Lula Marie Fortune; two brothers, Norman Ray Pruitt, Royce Elmer Pruitt; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Pruitt, Chad Pruitt, Shane Florence, Mike McKoin, and Floyd Swopes.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Golden Funeral Home.
