Obituary of Evie Gertrude Thompson

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Evie Gertrude Thompson, age 89, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Britt Dupree and Rev. Phillip McCready officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Thompson, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011. She loved her family, children, neighbors, and her pet cats. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, C.J. Thompson; son, Lendel Carl Thompson; two great grandchildren, C.J. Woods, Marleigh Bolin; parents, Iley and Evie Thompson; sister, Vergie Francois and husband J.B.; and brother, J.D. Thompson and wife Odessa. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Priest and husband Bobby of Bastrop, LA, Virginia Carver and husband Howard of Bastrop, LA; son, Jimmy Thompson and wife Betty Sue of Atlanta, TX; and two sisters, Pearline Brister and husband Homer Dean of Bastrop, LA, Pauline Thomas and the late James Thomas of Spencer, LA. She is also blessed to be survived by eight grandchildren, David Priest and wife Theresa of Atlanta, TX, Bobbette Jannsen and husband David of Monroe, LA, Brandon Carver and wife Rhonda of Lufkin, TX, Nena Harbin and husband Stowe of Carrollton, TX, Alan Thompson and wife Rhonda of Monroe, LA, Vicky Stephens and husband Danny of Bossier City, LA, Steven Thompson and wife Kelly of Atlanta, TX, Deed Ward and husband Scott of Pasadena, TX; eighteen great grandchildren, Nikki Woods and husband Chris, Hunter Priest and wife Amber, Jake Bolin and friend Brittany, Colton Harris, Sam Jannsen, Shawn Westbrook, Sophia Carver, Colin Carver, Connor Harbin, Brady Harbin, Alexis Thompson, Ty Lendel Thompson, Haley Stephens, Hunter Stephens, Caitlin Gray, Matthew Thompson, Michael Coleman, Seth Camp; and five great great grandchildren, Payton Woods, Alexis Chambless, Kaiden Priest, Gavin Priest, and Kamryn Chambless. Serving as pallbearers will be David Priest, Alan Thompson, Steven Thompson, Brandon Carver, David Jannsen, Stowe Harbin, Danny Stephens, and Scott Ward.
