Obituary of Albert J. "A.J." Johnston

Funeral services for Mr. Albert J. "A.J." Johnston, age 93, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at East Haven Church of God with Revs. Kelvin Copeland, Marvin Tabora, and Tracy Ferris officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Mr. Johnston, a retired employee of International Paper Company's Single Service Division and Co-Owner of Le Grand Health and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 at LeGrand. He was a co-founder of East Haven Church of God. Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife, Doris Prisock Johnston; two daughters, Donnice Reynolds and husband Stuart of Bastrop, LA Tammie Sistrunk and husband Mark of Bastrop, LA; sister, Verna Mae Kelley and husband Vernon of ElKader, Iowa; five grandchildren, Gabe Reynolds and wife Mandi, Lauren Vyvial and husband Leo, Thomas Sistrunk and wife Maggie, Joseph Sistrunk and wife Kristen, Adam Sistrunk and wife Della; four great grandchildren, Conley Sistrunk, Madelyn Sistrunk, Graci Reynolds and Landen Vyvial. He is preceded in death by his son, Larry Charles Johnston; two sisters, Clarice Pennington, Essie Lee Waites; and brother, Freeland Johnston. Serving as pallbearers are: Gabe Reynolds, Leo Vyvial, Adam Sistrunk, Joseph Sistrunk, Thomas Sistrunk and David Hester. The family wishes to express there gratitude to the staff of Le Grand Health Care and Rehabilitaion and to Dr. Michael Smith for their loving care during Mr. Johnston's illness.
