Obituary of James H. "Jim" Braddock

Funeral services for Mr. James H. "Jim" Braddock, 79, of Monroe, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, Bastrop, LA with Rev. Britt Dupree officiating. Graveside ceremony will follow at Carter Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 3 at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Braddock was a meat cutter by trade, but had been retired for quite some time pursuing his life-time passion of ranching. He took tremendous pride in his work and land; was a great husband and father; a strong leader in his family; a slight character; and definitely made a mark on life and all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Mansfield "Jack" Braddock and Clara Belle Hewette Braddock; and sister, Lena Wallace.
Mr. Braddock is survived by his wife, Daneen Duvendack Braddock; son, Gregory J. Braddock of Houston, TX; two daughters, Lisa A. Blakley and husband Marvin of Monroe; Christy L. Eldridge and husband Marcus of Tomball, TX; brothers, William Mansfield "Son" Braddock Jr. of Pensacola, FL; Will Braddock of Monroe; Tom Braddock of Monroe; sisters, Martha Ramsden of Lavonia, MI; Louise Forbes of Chandler, AZ; Dorothy "Dot" Goudeau of Bastrop; and Pearl Thigpen of West Monroe; and one very special granddaughter, Skyler A. Blakley.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Greg Braddock, Marv Blakley, John "Jack" Braddock, Glenn Braddock, James Thigpen, Brian Thigpen, Johnny Goudeau and J.J. Goudeau.
Marcus Eldridge will provide a special song of celebration for Mr. Braddock during the service.
