Funeral services for Mr. Frank Day, age 86, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Bennett, Rev. Britt Dupree, and Rev. Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow in Beekman Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home, Bastrop. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Day, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007. He was a retired Farm Bureau agent and a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was a charter member, longtime treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and lay minister. He was on the board of directors for Oak Woods Home for the Elderly, a member of the Mer Rouge Lions Club, and a Gideon. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a radio operator and tail gunner, primarily in New Guinea. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Harrison Day; his parents; and step-son, David Glass. Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Violet Reeves Glass Day of Bastrop; daughter, Frances Day Loyless of Bastrop; step-daughter, Marsha Holland & husband Sam of Ruston; two sisters, Katharine Huber of Jonesboro, AR, Marjorie Huber & husband J.B. of Weiner, AR; two brothers, Charles Day & wife Elizabeth of Waskom, TX, Maurice Day & wife Martha of Pine Bluff, AR; two grandchildren, David Loyless of Monroe, Jonathan Loyless of Hot Springs, AR; three step-grandchildren, Susan Frazier & husband Bill of Newnan, GA, Tracey Holland of Ruston, Elizabeth Chapman & husband Chad of Natchitoches; three step-great grandchildren, Katee Frazier, Nicholas Chapman, Kaleigh Grace Chapman; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Bardell Bostick, Johnny Hughes, Dexter Bryan, Ronnie Harrison, Craig Oliphant, Butch Musgrove, Buddy Richards, and David McCarty. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Loyless, Earl Brown, Charles Moore, and R.W. Patrick.
