Funeral services for Nan VanCleave Hopkins, 84 of Shreveport, formerly of Bastrop, will be 10 am Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Golden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jim Taylor and Cal Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop. Ms. Hopkins, a retired Clerk of Court for Morehouse Parish, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport. Nan created many special friendships throughout her life. She regarded them as family and they did the same. She had so much love in her heart for all the people in her life and that love and kindness is felt by all the lives she touched. Nan is survived by a daughter, Janet VanCleave Horton of Shreveport; 2 sisters, Louise Townsend of Baton Rouge, and Mary Ann Reynolds & husband Don of Baton Rouge; 4 grandchildren, Jim Horton & wife Kim, Leigh Ann Grinnis & husband Keith, Vanessa Hendershot, Amy Ricord & husband Charles. Granny was very special to all her grandchildren and also her 16 great grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews. Not only was she a wonderful grandmother, but also she held close to her heart nephews Donny and David Reynolds, and Scott Hobson; and nieces, Pam Crutti and Jennifer Griffin. Ms. Hopkins is preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Eva Kathlene Moore, and Ruth Duncan; niece, Brenda Hobson; nephew, David Reynolds; and by 2 husbands, David VanCleave, and Lewis P. Hopkins. Pallbearers will be Donny Reynolds, Justin Reeves, John Sherman Crow, Keith Grinnis, Jim Horton, Charles Ricord, Darrel Adoin,and Larry Fryday. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be J. H. Lockwood and Lee Derrick. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Craig Miller and his nurse Liz for 8 years of compassionate medical care at Willis-Knighton Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Golden's.
