Obituary of Melissie "Missy" McGhee

Melissie "Missy" McGhee, 51, a resident of Bastrop, La. passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 12:05 a.m. at her home after a lengthy illness. Born on September 7, 1953 Missy was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Dolly Lee Crenshaw Sowyers; her son, Marco McGhee; her brother, James Alton Sowyers and her sister, Willie Joe Boyer. Survivors include her special friend and companion, Richard Geter; one daughter, Josette of Shreveport, LA; three sisters, Bertha Bays and husband Billy of Crossett, AR, Sheila Hawkins and husband Don of Bastrop, LA, Mamie Bonnette and husband Todd of Crosby, MS; three brothers, Arthur Sowyers of Bastrop, LA, Henry Ray Sowyers and wife Diane of Hamburg, AR; Raymond Sowyers of Haughton, LA; two grandsons, Aaron Michael Hall of Bastrop, LA and Jonathan Hall of Shreveport, LA; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Missy was a very caring, courageous and loving person who will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005 in the Golden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allan Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled to be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the funeral home.
