Graveside funeral services for Rufus W. Laing, age 84, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday March 20, 2005 at Stevenson Cemetery with Rev. Billy Stewart and Bro. Jerry Spikes officiating. Mr. Laing, a resident of Bastrop and a retired employee of the Single Service Division, passed away March 19, 2005 at Morehouse General Hospital. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday March 20, 2005 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Laing was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Laing is survived by his daughter, Sally Sivils of Bastrop; three sisters, Opal Rogers & husband Clayton of Bastrop; Rosemary Eubanks of Bastrop, Mary Alice Stewart & husband Billy of Bastrop;and brother, Dave Laing & wife Georgia of Bastrop.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Seymore & Lilla Laing; brother, Richard Laing; and sister, Maggie Ford.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Dunn, James Rogers, Clayton Rogers, Troy Hughes, Willie Pollock, Ross Allen Riels, Don Hightower, and Dr. Carter Cox.
