Obituary of Betty Jean Childs Tharp

Funeral services for Ms. Betty Jean Childs Tharp, age 79, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday, February 25, 2012 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Ms. Tharp worked at Citidel Security and later retired from Lagniappe Healthcare. She was a member of Evergreen Methodist Church in Evergreen, LA. Ms. Tharp loved country music and would play the guitar and sing. She also enjoyed growing flowers. Ms. Tharp is survived by her mother, Juanita "Granny" Tharp of Bastrop, LA; daughters, Sherry Tharp Jones and husband Harmon of Gilbert, LA, Kathy Tharp Carruth and husband Jerry of McComb, MS; sons, Bill G. Tharp and wife Carolyn of Bastrop, LA, Terry Tharp of Bastrop, LA, Lavelle Tharp and wife Jeanie or Archibald, LA; step-sister, Betty McGough of Monroe, LA; fourteen grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, C.G. Childs ; step-father, Willie A. Tharp and son, B.J. Tharp. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Saturday February 25, 2012 from 11 AM until 1 PM service time.
