Funeral services for Mrs. Mary "Sugar Do" Harper, 64, of Bastrop are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Cal Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Red Wing Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Harper, a retired school board employee, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007 at her residence. She was also a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church where she participated and loved being an active member of the Quilting Club and the Bell Choir. She is survived by daughters, Cassundra Tubbs and husband Mike of Bastrop, LA; LaDonna Belcher and husband Ronnie of Orange, TX; sons, John Edward "Bo" Harper, Jr. of Bastrop, LA, Jeffery Allen Harper of Orange, TX; sister, Sherry Petty of Bastrop, LA; brothers, Leroy Turner and wife Beatrice, Samuel Turner and wife Audrey, James Turner and wife Rosie, Colin Turner and wife JoAnn, all of Bastrop, LA; six grandchildren, Tabitha Cassel and husband John, Derrick Harper, Donovan Harper, Seth Wallace, Josh Harper, Sarah Tubbs; two great grandchildren, Michael Gilara and Caleb Cassel. Mrs. Harper, is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Estus Turner; husband, John Harper and son, Gary Harper. Pallbearers will be Leroy "Hard Rock" Turner, Jr., Tony Turner, Samuel Turner, Ernie Turner, B. J. Swayze and Vince Dispenza. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to : Morehouse Cancer Fund P.O. Box 906, Bastrop, LA 71220. Visitation will be held Friday, August 31, 2007 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church.
