Mrs. Doris Rea Sawyer, Age 80, of The Woodlands, Texas, died on May 11,2004 from complications of Parkinson's disease. She was born in Marion, La. on July 8,1923 to Floyd and Gladys Rea. Doris married Mack Sawyer on May 27,1940. Doris and Mack lived in Houston from 1956 until 1985 when they retired to Bastrop,LA. For 22 years Doris was employed as an executive secretary for Brown and Root, rising to the positions of executive secretary to the president and executive assistant to the treasurer of Brown and Root. While she was able, Doris was active in her church and her community. Doris was proud of her genealogy research and was a member of DAR. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Mack E. Sawyer; by her children, Judith Ann Sawyer Cook, her husband Lynn Cook of The Woodlands,TX and Mack Edward Sawyer,Jr. of Geneva, Switzerland, and by her grandchildren, Brian Cook and David Cook. She was preceded in death by infant daughter Linda Carol Sawyer. Visitation will be on Friday, May 14, at Golden Funeral Home, 2016 East Madison Ave., from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 15 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with burial following at Hughes Chapel Cemetery.
