Obituary of Richard E. Pennington

Funeral services for Mr. Richard E. Pennington, 82, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Black and Rayburn McLarrin officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Mr. Pennington, a retired employee of International Paper Company and member of Bonita Road Baptist Church, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 at his residence. He is survived by two sons, Gary Elkins and wife Gloria Jean of Bastrop, LA, Larry Elkins and wife Lollie of Bastrop, LA; four sisters, Faye Thomas of Bastrop, LA; Cliffie Oden of Little Rock, AR, Mamie Wisecarver of North Little Rock, AR, Marlene Dowden of Bossier City, LA; brother, Larence Pennington of Talladega, AL; three grandsons, Ricky Elkins, Bob Elkins, Jerry Wayne Elkins and a granddaughter, Wanda Jean Jones. Mr. Pennington is preceded in death by his wife of thirty eight years, Retha Pennington and a brother, Don Pennington. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Golden Funeral Home.
