Funeral services for James Lester Johnson, 72, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20,2004 at the Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Carter and Kyle Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, May 18,2004 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a deacon at Faith Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion, VFW and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Johnson retired after 25 years as an agent for Central American Life Insurance Company. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Fairchild Johnson; one daughter, Karen Johnson Hayes and husband James R. of Goodwill,LA; two sons, Michael Lester Johnson and wife Lori Ann of Bastrop,LA, James Todd Johnson and wife Sherri B. of Bastrop,LA; one sister, Margaret Johnson Norsworthy and husband Max of Bastrop,LA; two brothers, Howard Johnson and wife Pat of Collinston, LA, Bob Johnson and wife Dora of Bastrop, LA; nine grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Cole Johnson, Sarah Beth Barlow, Melanie Hayes Lane and husband Kyle, Jennilee Hayes, Jonathan Hayes, Carly Hayes, Jake Johnson and Abbey Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Minnie Johnson. Pallbearers will be Donny Tillman, Jerry Daugherty, Sammy Eldridge, Johnny Legg, Todd Wooden and George Delamar. Memorial contributions may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Childrens Home. Visitation will be 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home.
