Funeral services for Henry M. "Jesse" Garrett, 90, of Monroe, formerly of Bastrop, will be 10 AM Monday, May 16, 2005 at Golden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Cecil Gregory and Cal Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop. Mr. Garrett, a retired carpenter with International Paper Company, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 at North Monroe Hospital. He was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church and served his country with the U. S. Navy in WWII on the U.S.S. Cascade. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Garrett is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olga Blair Garrett; a brother, Wesley Garrett along with 8 other brothers and sisters. He is survived by a daughter, Jane G. Evans & husband Huey of Bastrop; a son, Gary W. Garrett & wife Carolyn of Midwest City, OK; 6 grandchildren, Craig Evans & wife Regina of Bastrop, Brent & Blake Evans of New Roads, LA, Todd Garrett & wife Michelle of Prescott, AR, Greg Garrett of Seville, OH, Kimberly Griffith of Midwest City, OK; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, & Katie Garrett of Prescott, AR, Lee Evans of Wesson, MS, Samantha Woods and Ashton Evans both of Bastrop; nephew, Gayle Garrett & wife Pat of Bastrop, 2 nieces, Ann Roan of Chatham, LA, and Vonita Cecil of Daingerfield, TX. Pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons, and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Golden Funeral Home from 5 - 9 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Northeast Louisiana War Veteran's Home Chapel Fund in Monroe.
