Funeral services for Ben A. Watson, age 73, of Bastrop are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday May 25, 2004 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Allan Eppinette & Heath Eppinette officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday May 24, 2004 from 4-9 p.m. at Goldens. Mr. Watson died May 22, 2004, at Cornerstone Hospital in Bossier City.
Mr. Watson was a deputy coroner with the Morehouse Parish Coroner's Office. He was a retired funeral director for Golden Funeral Home, a retired paramedic with Yates & Tubbs Ambulance Service, and a retired powerhouse employee with International Paper Company. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Bastrop Optimist Club.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife, Delores Chunn Watson; daughters, Rosemary Rich & husband Tom of League City, TX, Diana Watson of Shreveport, Susan Watson of Shreveport and Ann Crymes & husband Pete of Bastrop; Sons, John Watson of Monroe, Daniel Watson of League City, TX, Ralph Watson & wife Sherri of Walterboro, S.C., and Brad Forrest & wife Carrie of Crossett, AR; Sisters, Melba Willford & husband E. J. of Glenview, MO, and Laurine Marshall & husband Brenner of Alexandria; Brother, Elvin Watson of Shreveport; Grandchildren, Rachael Waller & husband Justin, Morgan Booth & husband Byron, Michael Lloyd Rich, Kye Michal Crymes, Jacey Allen and Carley Allen; Great Grandchildren, Natalie Waller and Emery Waller.
Preceded in death by two sons, Benjamin Todd Watson & David Allen Watson, and by the mother of his children, Clarie Patricia Watson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Owens, Ron Chapman, John Lang, Mike Tubbs, Terry Williams, Lamar Lang, Victor Ray Chunn and Gene Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E.D. Baker, Dr. Francis Elias, Dr. Robert Lyon, and the men & women with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office & Bastrop Police Department.
