Obituary of Mabel Davis

Funeral services for Mabel E. Davis, age 86, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday May 27, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Bastrop with Rev. Jim Ingram and Rev. L.H. McCollough officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Golden's from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Davis died May 24, 2004, at the Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a former resident of Bastrop. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bastrop, member of the W.M.U., and a member of Mrs. Golden's Sunday School Class. She played piano and taught Sunday School at Summerlin Lane Nursing Home for 18 years. She is survived by her daughter, Mary "Gail" Creasey McLain of Hattiesburg, MS; son, Leland Hedrick "Rick" Davis & wife Merrilyn of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren, Clark Creasey, Teresa Van Horst, Terry Davis, Angel Davis Wood and Michael Davis; seven great grandchildren and step great granddaughter, Kelsea McLain. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leland H. Davis; parents, John Jeff & Pearl Naff Edwards; sister, Florence Milford; and step grandson, John M. McLain III. Serving as pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church and honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Robert Lyon.
