Obituary of Frances Boone White

Frances Boone (Mrs. Joe Rolfe) White, of Bastrop, LA, passed away on June 24, 2012 at Oak Woods Home in Mer Rouge, LA. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey Robinson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at Golden Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oak Ridge (LA) Episcopal Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. White was born in Nashville, TN, on April 14, 1924 to Byram Atkins and Sammye Elinor Bryan Boone and graduated from Central High School where, among other activities and honors, she was a drum majorette. She also graduated from business college in Nashville. She met her future husband-to-be on summer trips to visit a favorite aunt in Mer Rouge, LA. Following his return from military service in Europe after the end of WWII, she and Joe Rolfe White were married in the Second Presbyterian Church of Nashville on September 5, 1946, afterwards moving to Bastrop, LA, where he opened a law practice and she was his legal secretary. From 1950 through 1955, she gave birth to their four children and was a caring homemaker, willing to serve as homeroom mother, scout troop leader and Sunday school teacher at First Methodist Church in Bastrop. She was active in the Women's Circles of the First Methodist Church and Coterie Club for many years. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her father, her husband, Joe Rolfe, of 39 years, her mother, a sister, Betty Gene Boone Bennett, of Belleair Shore, FL, and numerous relatives and close family friends. She is survived by her four children and their families: son Joe Rolfe, Jr. and wife Sarah Zeagler White of Haughton, LA, and their daughters Laura White Sherman and husband Robert of Monroe, LA, Elinor White Johnston and husband James of Blanchard, LA, and Erin White of Haughton, LA; son James Byram (Jimmy) White of Bastrop; son John Steven White and his daughter Jennifer White Maxwell and husband Trey, and son Steven White all of Bastrop; and daughter Elinor Gene (Genie) White Daniell and husband James of Bastrop and their daughter Angela Daniell of Shreveport, LA, son Christopher Daniell of Bastrop, and daughter Frances Daniell Ogden and husband James of Bastrop. "Mimi" was the name given to her by her grandchildren. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Zeke and Liam Johnston, Benton Daniell, Abbie and Maddie Sherman, Russell and Aiden Ogden, Gage Maxwell, and by the children and grandchildren of her deceased sister. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
