A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Bastrop for Martha Walcott Blanks, born June 22, 1919, in Earl, Arkansas, died June 4, 2005 after a lengthy illness.
She graduated salutatorian of her high school class in Bonita, Louisiana and attended Louisiana Tech. In 1941 she married Jack Bruce Blanks and they moved to Bastrop. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and was the second person in Bastrop to attain life master status in bridge.
Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack Blanks, she is survived by her son Richard Walcott Blanks and his wife Kathryn of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter Bruce Bardwell and her husband Wayne of Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Shannon Torbett and husband John of Los Angeles, California, Stephanie Sauer and husband Brian of Houston, Texas, Rachel Walcott Blanks; grandson, William Linzell Blanks of Atlanta, Georgia and one great granddaughter Lindsey Elizabeth Sauer of Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Bastrop.
