Funeral services for Howard Jay Parks, 57, of Dry Prong, LA, formerly of Bastrop, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Golden Funeral Home's Chapel with Rev. William Fowler officiating. Commital services will follow in Christ Church Cemetery.
Mr. Parks, a retired camera and production technician for KALB, Channel 5 in Alexandria, LA, died June 9, 2005 at his residence. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his mother, Jane W. Parks of Bastrop, LA; three sisters, Mary Virginia Aldridge of Sterlington, LA, Cynthia Parks of Sterlington, LA, Demetra Lossett of Gladewater, TX; two brothers, Jimmie Errol Berner of Ketchikan, AK, Gary Curtis Parks of Carson City, NV; seven nieces and nephews; seven grandnieces and nephews.
Mr. Parks is preceded in death by his father, Sam Curtis Parks; maternal grandparents, George and Maudie Widner; paternal grandparents, Eddie and Virgie Parks; sister, Louise Fuselier and nephew, Barry Carpenter.
Serving as pallbearers are: Steve Neal, Anthony DeFreese, Larry Lossett, William Gorman, Michael Aldridge and Troy Hughes.
Honorary pallbearers are: Gary Sisk, Dick Stuckey, Ben Washam and Harvy Williamson.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005 at Golden Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Hill Baptist Church.
