Funeral services for Mrs. Estelle Gilbert Armstrong, age 98, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 3 PM Sunday, July 22, 2012 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Don Bryan and Rev. Jim Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Armstrong, a retired Nurse's Aide at Cherry Ridge Guest Care, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Buron Armstrong; parents, James Jackson Gilbert and Clara Pendarvis Gilbert; three brothers, James Mason Gilbert, Archie Lester Gilbert, John Earl Gilbert; sister, Corrie Mae Gilbert Suggs; son-in-law, George Herron and a granddaughter, Teri Bryan Romero. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a son, Malcolm Buron Armstrong and wife Margaret of Alpharetta, GA; three daughters, Cecile Armstrong Herron of Dallas, TX, Georgia Armstrong Bryan and husband Don of Bastrop, LA, Debbie Armstrong Spann and husband Bruce of Bastrop, LA; eight grandchildren, Jan, Jay, Jim, Brenda, Carole, Tracy, David, Katie; fourteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 1 PM - 3 PM service time at Golden Funeral Home. The family of Mrs. Armstrong would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and employees of The Arbor, The Terrace, Morehouse General Hospital, MediStar Home Health and Southern Care Hospice.
